20-Year-Old Idol Somehow Joins Two Survival Shows, Three Different Groups — All In Less Than 16 Months

Some idols’ drive to debut can be truly legendary, as they seem to be able to take just about anything to make their dreams come true. From long training times to dropping everything they know to move to a foreign country, the dedication is real.
Additionally, many idols and idol hopefuls use survival shows to either debut or boost their popularity, with some famously appearing on shows multiple times.
Recently, an idol made her debut after several attempts did not work out the way she expected.
Lu Yuting is a 20-year-old Chinese star who first made her debut as part of a Chinese girl group called IS GIRL. The group trained in Korea, but was only active for around two years, silently disbanding in 2021.

After this, Lu Yuting made her solo debut in 2022, first releasing a digital single before the release of her first and only mini album.
Following another single in 2023, the idol appeared to not have any activities but was announced as a contest of ChuangAsia Thailand the following January. Ultimately, however, she did not make the final group, finishing in 18th place.

This did not set her back, as she was later a competitor on another survival in October 2024 titled Time Turner. This time, she did place high enough the make the group, I.MET.U.

However, the group has yet to make their debut, and in January 2025, Lu Yuting came to an agreement with the agency the group was under to leave. This action seemed to have been fueled by the announcement she would be joining Moai Entertainment‘s upcoming group E11iVyn.

Just a little after a month, however, all the content featuring Lu Yuting was removed, seeming to signal another pre-debut departure.
Like before, what at first seemed to be a setback was actually not, as Lu Yuting was announced to be joining UDTT as the missing fifth member. UDTT made their debut technically as four, but included a masked fifth person album content as a placeholder for Lu Yuting, who managed to participate in their first debut stage under the name Jessica.

Now that she has made her official K-Pop debut, hopefully, Lu Yuting will see her efforts pay off even more!
