Song Joong Ki’s Old “Controversy” Resurfaces At The 60th Baeksang Awards
The 60th Baeksang Awards ceremony took place in South Korea on May 7, KST. It brought together all the entertainment industry’s A-listers to celebrate their art.
Among the celebrities who created a stir on the red carpet was Song Joong Ki. The actor appeared dapper in a black-and-white tuxedo suit.
Song greeted the cameras, hitting the staple poses like the veteran he is. However, one specific gesture has stirred up an old controversy about the actor.
In some of the photos from the red carpet, Song Joong Ki was seen doing the cheek-heart pose. Though it has become one of the classic stock poses for celebrities, for Song, it brought back an attitude controversy he got embroiled in a few months ago. While attending a premiere event of his last drama, Reborn Rich, the actor refused to do a heart pose despite requests from the media.
When criticism started pouring in excessively, the actor explained himself, saying he simply felt that doing typical poses would be boring, and hence he denied the requests. But he also admitted that it was his shortcoming that his attitude reflected badly.
It’s not that my attitude has changed. At the time, I thought gestures like the ‘finger heart’ were clichés. It wasn’t that I didn’t want to do it. I just found the cliché aspect a bit dull. If it seemed like I didn’t want to do it, then it’s certainly my mistake.
