“When Life Gives You Tangerines” Actress’s Audition Was So Absurd She Thought It Was A Scam
A breakout star from Netflix‘s recent global hit, When Life Gives You Tangerines, recently shared her bizarre audition story, explaining why it felt like a sketchy affair to her in the beginning.

Actress Nam Kwon Ah, who won viewers’ hearts as the quirky housekeeper in the drama, recently appeared in an interview on the One Mic YouTube channel, talking about how life has changed since this role.

Nam shared that When Life Gives You Tangerines has brought her significant acknowledgement from the public, to the point where she now gets recognized on the streets. “I kind of feel like a celebrity,” she jokingly stated.
But the road to this recognition was anything but glamorous. The actress recalled her audition process, which raised one red flag after another in her mind. Nam mentioned that when she got the casting notice, it was around 10 or 11 pm, leading her to wonder if it was something “sketchy.” But she went anyway, putting her trust in IU and Park Bo Gum.

Upon arrival, she was greeted by an even more absurd scene — the director sitting alone with no other staff members.
There were no cameras. Usually, there is an assistant director and people next to you that give you lines. But the director was alone. It was my first time experiencing something like this.

She, however, decided to take a leap of faith and diligently worked with the director for the audition, and in the end, was selected for the role. “This process was different from any other audition I’ve ever been to. So, it was unfamiliar and fun,” she added,
What began as a late-night leap of faith moment eventually turned into a career milestone for Nam Kwon Ah, proving how the showbiz hustle can go beyond expected trajectories.
