Multiple Female Idols Sue Web Entertainment Company

Multiple former K-Pop idols have initiated legal action against a web entertainment production company, referred to as “Company A,” over unpaid wages. These idols include former DIA‘s Somyi, ex-Nine Muses member Eunji, and actress Cho Shi Yoon.

The management agency of these three celebrities, Modenberry Korea, recently released an official statement revealing that their affiliated artists had appeared on a web variety show multiple times but hadn’t received their agreed-upon payment for months on end. Despite repeated attempts at re-negotiation and persuasion, Company A refused to provide any reasonable response.

Hence, Modenberry Korea has taken the matter to the courts, formally initiating legal proceedings on behalf of its artists. In its official statement, the agency also said that it would reveal Company A’s actual name and pursue both criminal and civil suits against it if it fails to pay the appearance fees within the following few days.

The show in question reportedly features a well-known comedian as the MC and stands to face a significant fallout from the legal action if the agency’s name is revealed to the public.

The lawsuit against Company A has once again raised questions about the working conditions of the Korean web content industry.
