NCT Mark’s Official Event Receives Heavy Backlash From Public

The company was blamed.

NCT‘s Mark recently held a scavenger event across various locations in Seoul. Fans had to locate special stickers stuck on various places such as park benches and more. The official organizers of the event, Mark’s team from SM Entertainment, dropped hints throughout the day.

The first event was at Namsan Park.

Many fans gathered in the early hours of morning to find the items. They ran into trouble when a park maintenance officer began stopping the fans from hunting. Allegedly, SM Entertainment had failed to work things out with the park before starting the event.

I came at 6.30am to help my friend who’s a Mark fan, and apparently SM Entertainment stuck the stickers on without asking. The park officer said that it’s illegal and told us to leave.

In Korea, this is considered vandalism. In the end, the event was concluded in the afternoon when all stickers had been “found.”

Fans were outraged as most of these stickers had been removed by officers rather than fans finding them. What was meant to be an exciting event ended up becoming criticized due to SM Entertainment’s lack of preparation.

Netizens criticized the company heavily for their lack of expertise in handling the situation.

  • SM, is it your first day on the job? Why are you like this?
  • What’s up with the sticker marks?
  • Huh? People were saying that the OP was pretty rude about it, and I saw the quotes and realized that people were also cursing at the park officers.
  • No, but are they in their right minds? Pasting things in public spaces like that?
  • What’s SM doing?

SM Entertainment has not yet responded to the allegations.
