During a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, aespa’s Karina opened up about her future ambitions, mentioning that she would like to try acting one day.
What seemed like an offhand remark quickly grew into a heated topic among fans.
During the interview, Karina was asked about what she wants to keep working on and what challenges she wants to take on in the future. Acting was one of her responses.
Question: Is there something you keep working on to become an icon? And what challenges do you want to take on in the future?
Karina: I’d like to try acting. When I shoot music videos or commercials, I often end up acting more than I thought, and it happens quite a lot.
When I filmed a commercial for Shinsegae Department Store, it was my first time doing something that felt like real acting. So many people helped me and it was so fun and fascinating. I thought I’d like to learn it properly.
For years, the idea of idols shifting into acting has divided K-Pop fandoms. Some feel idols should remain focused on music, while others believe they should have the freedom to branch out and explore new areas. Karina’s statement seems to have placed her right in the middle of that long-running discussion.
A portion of aespa fans expressed that they want to continue seeing Karina mainly as a performer on stage, emphasizing that idols shine the brightest while singing and dancing.

karina herself has expressed her will & want to act who are you to say what she can or cant do? as a fan shouldn't you support all her good doings? if you're going to mould her into something she's not maybe it's time to find an idol that ticks all your boxes since karina does'nt
