Gorgeous Actress Admits She Put Herself Through Extreme Weight Loss After Joining JYP Entertainment

Actress Park Gyu Young, best known for her roles in hit K-Dramas such as Sweet Home and Squid Game, recently revealed that she put herself through an extreme diet right after starting her acting career.

Park appeared as a guest on Park Na Rae’s YouTube channel on September 24, and shared some candid stories about herself. When the host asked her if she had always naturally been slim, the actress responded by sharing her weight loss journey.

“When I was in school, I weighed about 15kg more than I do now,” Park Gyu Young admitted, adding that she had to work extremely hard to get to her current figure. “After debuting, I wanted to wear nice clothes and look more defined on screen, so I went on a diet,” she revealed.

After graduating from Busan Foreign Language High School, Park Gyu Young was studying at Yonsei University when she was cast by JYP Entertainment as an actress. It was then that she started paying attention to her body weight, enduring harsh dieting and workout regimens. As a fitness enthusiast, she shared that now she usually skips breakfast and heads straight to the gym after having her coffee. Park’s focus is weight training, thanks to which her back muscles are extremely defined.

She also shared that her current role as a killer in SBS’s Queen Mantis required her to bulk up her back and shoulders, adding even more definition to her muscles.

Park Gyu Young’s dedication to her acting career has definitely paid off, leaving her with an enviable filmography. She has worked alongside top actors such as Lee Jin Wook, Seo Kang Joon, Cha Eunwoo, Lee Jung Suk, and Im Si Wan. She recently talked about her super close friendship with Eunwoo, sparking major interest.
