Choo Young Woo Talks About His Past Scandal In Interview—Comments Backfire Big Time

“He’s just stupid, clearly.”

Rising actor Choo Young Woo, of The Trauma Code: Heroes on Call fame, found himself embroiled in multiple scandals earlier in 2025—including one in which he was labeled a pedophile, as well as one that led him to issue an apologetic statement.

Since then, he has remained “out of trouble,” so to speak…

…and in his latest interview, he commented on making certain choices to avoid more scandals.

Choo Young Woo: These days, I really think I need to live more properly, and I hardly go outside at all. It just happened naturally, and my friends kindly come over to visit. Lately, I’ve been really into cooking—making meals for three to four people to share with friends, or packing them into lunchboxes for the staff and holding little tasting sessions.

Q: Would you say you’re being cautious because of the past controversies?

Choo Young Woo: That’s part of it. And because I receive so much attention and love, if I make a mistake, people could be even more disappointed. My fans would struggle more, and there are many people who’ve helped me. Even aside from that, I like being at home. I feel at ease, and honestly, something could happen if I go out.

The interview, however, hasn’t been sitting well with Korean netizens. A viral theqoo post saw hundreds of comments pointing out how “stupid” the actor sounded, bringing up his own scandal like so.

  • “He’s better off not doing interviews.”
  • “Or at least rehearse his interviews…”
  • “Downplaying his scandals like that? LMAO. He’s such an airhead, but we knew that from his social media scandal.”
  • “Huh.”
  • “He’s pretty clueless for a rising actor. Either his agency doesn’t care or he’s just too stubborn.”
  • “What does he mean something could happen outside? Like following the wrong people on Instagram?”
  • “I mean, he can access Instagram inside his home, too. Talking about it like that shows how stupid he is. I think he should turn down any variety programs.”
  • “I don’t see how those things are related at all, but OK.”
  • “Wowza… I really don’t want to see him anymore.”
  • “Oh, so he was watching the problematic YouTuber content outside.”
  • “?”
  • “I feel like a lot of his interviews are this raw and unfiltered. IDK if it’s because he’s a rookie, but he needs to work on his interview skills. The person asking wasn’t necessarily baiting him, but he still got played. And he’s not the most eloquent, so…”

Some believed that Choo Young Woo meant it in a reflective tone, though most were unimpressed with the response he chose to give.

  • “He’s just stupid, clearly.”
  • “Why would he even bring that up…?”
  • “What is he doing outside his house that he’s afraid something could happen?”
  • “He has had several controversies, though.”
  • “Bro, just go outside. It’s not like that ever stopped you from following the wrong people and doing the wrong things. LMAO.”
  • “Haha.”
  • “LMAO. What is he even saying?”
  • “He needs to work on his interview skills. I feel like he might have meant to say that he has been reflecting on his scandals, but he said it wrong. Is he from a smaller agency? He needs one-on-one coaching.”
  • “Pfft. This got me laughing.”
  • “???”
  • “Huh?”
  • “I’m sorry but I just think he’s dumb…”
  • “He tends to put his foot in his mouth quite often.”
