Korean Star Jung Shin Woo Passes Away After 12-year Illness Battle

Actor-turned-chef Jung Shin Woo (real name Jung Dae Yeol) has passed away at the age of 58.

According to a report by a media outlet, the late Jung Shin Woo died early morning on the 18th.

Jung Shin Woo debuted in 1988 with the musical Gospel and made his official debut in 1994 with the SBS drama one-act play Lawyer Park Bong Sook.

In 1998, he was selected as a public talent in MBC’s 27th class and appeared in dramas various dramas.

In 2000, he completed courses in full styling and table setting. He also finished short culinary courses in Italy and France. Additionally, he transferred to and graduated from Sejong University’s Department of Culinary and Food Service.

Afterward, he was active on cooking programs including EBS’s The Best Cooking Secrets, Food Channel’s Jung Shin Woo’s Cooking Workshop, and KBS’s live broadcast Jung Shin Woo’s Kkok Kkok Recipes.

Jung Shin Woo was diagnosed with thymic cancer in 2014 and shared his battle diaries on his blog until recently. His latest post, dated October 29 of last year, expressed sorrow with words like, “Everything is different from ordinary people. Even the slightest misalignment makes the body collapse and hurt in sequence. Because of that, life has lost all its joy.

No separate funeral parlor has been arranged for the late Jung Shin Woo, and a funeral mass will be held on the 19th at 11am at Gangnam St. Mary’s Hospital Funeral Chapel.
