On the morning of the 19th, an end-of-series interview was held with Lee Je Hoon at a cafe in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, for SBS’s Friday-Saturday drama Taxi Driver 3.
Regarding whether playing Kim Do Gi in Taxi Driver has made him more cautious or discerning in daily life, Lee Je Hoon said, “If someone sets out to deceive another, anyone on the receiving end would inevitably fall victim. I believe what’s important is the values and life perspective one holds. Society is rapidly changing these days with many incidents and accidents happening, so I constantly reflect on how I look toward and live in the future.”
He continued, “Rather than feeling I must be cautious, I think I have, since I was young, been instinctively and consciously thinking and feeling about good and evil and right and wrong through education, reading, and media exposure. I haven’t felt the need to change that, but as things unfold, I think it’s natural for me, as someone in the entertainment field, to be mindful.”
When asked whether the cast ever discussed avoiding trouble with comments like “let’s not cause any scandals,” Lee Je Hoon replied, “We’ve never had that kind of conversation. That’s common sense for people living in the world, so I don’t think we’ve specifically talked about being cautious or conscious of it.”
However, regarding cases where a single actor’s controversy shakes or damages a project itself, he said, “I do worry about parts where the interpretation and value of the efforts behind the work might be diminished because of that. Each project contains the sincerity of many people’s hard work, and I hope that sincerity isn’t erased or faded.”
Lee Je Hoon recently completed filming for tvN’s Second Signal, which was scheduled to air this year. However, with Jo Jin Woong deciding to retire amid a past controversy, the release of the project now remains uncertain.
