On February 10, 2026 (KST), Judge Cho Young Min of the Seoul Central District Court sentenced the “Apgujeong Box Girl,” who was indicted for violating the Narcotics Control Act (psychotropic substances), to two years in prison, suspended for four years, and fined her ₩1.84 million KRW (about $1,260 USD). The court also imposed three years of probation and ordered her to complete 40 hours of drug treatment education.

This follows her indictment in June 2024 on charges of purchasing the narcotic ketamine on five occasions and administering methamphetamine twice and ketamine once.

Drug-related crimes cause serious harm, including damage to public health, and carry a high risk of reoffending, making strict punishment necessary. The defendant handled narcotics multiple times and, while under police investigation, went on to handle a different type of narcotic again.

That said, Koreans are not impressed with the sentence that the box girl received—slamming the court for being lenient with her again.

  • “She’s clearly not in her right mind. That’s why she keeps doing sh*t like this. The punishment is way too light.”
  • “Everyone around her—friends, acquaintances, anyone she’s in contact with—should be investigated for drugs too.”
  • “It’s drugs and she still gets a suspended sentence… LOL. This country is way too lenient.”
  • “What’s even more shocking is that she’s in her 20s… I thought she was in her 30s or 40s.”
  • “The judge is basically enabling drug crimes. How is someone like that supposed to uphold judicial justice?”
  • “A suspended sentence isn’t meant for cases like this. Korean judges seriously hand them out way too easily.”
  • “A suspended sentence 😂😂😂😂😂😂 How is that even considered punishment?”

Previously, in September and October 2023, A In was put on trial for public indecency after encouraging people to put their hands inside the box she was wearing and touch her body. In September last year, the appellate court sentenced her to eight months in prison, suspended for two years.
