Rookie Male Idol Gets Accused Of Verbally Abusing MBC’s Female Staff Member
A rookie male idol has been accused of severely mistreating a floor director at MBC.
Recently, a post from an online mom cafe has gone viral in Korea, in which the OP (original poster) detailed the extent of abusive language her daughter faced on set with the alleged idol.
The post, originally published a month ago, began by noting that OP’s daughter had been hired as a contract floor director at MBC two years ago. A week before writing the post, she received a call from her daughter, who broke down into tears over the phone, saying she wanted to die. When the parents rushed to her side, she told them that she had been hurt by a celebrity.
The OP avoided naming anyone, stating that she didn’t want her daughter to face retaliation because the idol was under a large corporation. She then claimed that while working with a boy group, her daughter was giving instructions to the members, and one of them responded saying, “F*ck, why is that fat b*tch talking so much?” The mother mentioned that the idol probably thought her daughter couldn’t hear him, but she did. Even as the filming resumed, the idol allegedly kept glaring at her, scanning her body with disdain, and even berated her rudely when a prop malfunctioned.
Though the post didn’t name anyone, the OP mentioned that the idol was part of a group created through a survival show on tvN or Mnet. Finally, she claimed that the accused was a 24-year-old idol named “Kim.”
As the story spread across online platforms, an individual believed to be the victim came forward and named the accused as ALPHA DRIVE ONE‘s Kim Geonwoo. She also provided images of her work desk and a weekly filming schedule as “evidence” that she is currently working at MBC. Talking about Geonwoo, she described him as having “horrible character,” but she didn’t provide any further details.
This exposé has sparked massive backlash in Korea, with netizens demanding a response from the idol and possible consequences as well if the accusations turn out to be true.
