On February 26, Jungkook went live on Weverse.

During the live, the idol spoke about a number of topics after sharing that he was drunk, including his past smoking habit and the upcoming comeback.

However, some of his other behaviors have led to backlash, including his use of profanity and his comments about being freer. These were interpreted by some as referencing his alleged relationship with aespa’s Winter.

Along with netizen backlash, there have been complaints from the Korean side of the fandom, including some who allegedly have “given up” on supporting the group or specifically Jungkook. In particular, fans have even considered him quitting being an idol.

I don’t even care anymore what happens to Jeon Jungkook. Just apologize to the other six members, and apologize to the ARMYs who genuinely loved you.

When Jungkook had dating rumors, I thought, ‘Yeah… he can date,’ and let it go. When smoking rumors spread, I thought, ‘Yeah… people can smoke sometimes,’ and moved on. Even when he covered his whole arm with tattoos, I thought, ‘Yeah… he can get tattoos,’ and accepted it.

I accepted all of that because I trusted the person Jungkook had always shown himself to be.
I believed him because he was always hardworking and someone who told ARMY he loved them. But now… I don’t know anymore.

A popular fan account known for editing videos of BTS content, @im_doraji, for the last few years announced their closure, which has since been blamed on Jungkook.

What do we do…
Seriously, what do we do?
Jungkook, what on earth have you done?

— OP

I hope people keep leaving the fandom one by one until only the international fans are left and everyone else has quit.
You can spend the rest of your life being babied by international fans — go ahead and smoke without caring what anyone thinks and keep smoking for the rest of your life.

If even a “named” fan (well-known fan) is leaving, it means something really serious happened… I’m genuinely upset about what’s going on. I hope Jungkook learns to distinguish recklessness from honesty…

Of course, this does not represent the entirety of the Korean fandom, and international fans have been largely supportive of Jungkook as well.

Just do what you want… Those who are meant to stay will stay, and those who are meant to leave will leave. There are way too many people in this world ready to judge, criticize, and insult every little thing you do, but what matters most is to remember that the people who love you are right by your side.
