“If the genders were reversed…”

Actress Park Min Young is now at the center of controversy after sharing a behind-the-scenes story about filming a kissing scene with her Siren’s Kiss co-star Wi Ha Joon. Park Min Young Reveals Spicy Details About Co-Star During Their Kiss Scene

Park Min Young brought up a kissing scene with Wi Ha Joon, who is five years younger than her, calling him a “newborn” when it comes to kissing.

He said he hasn’t done much romance before. There was a kissing scene, and he said it was his second or third time. I’ve done a lot of romance projects, so if it’s your third kissing scene, that’s basically a newborn.

She then made the controversial comment, teasing Wi Ha Joon, “When they called ‘action,’ though, he just grabbed my lips and devoured them.”

It was supposed to be a scene where I was surprised, but I was actually surprised for real. How can someone ‘devour’ a kiss scene like that after only doing three of them? At that level, it’s basically suction…

…Ha Joon has very full lips and a relatively big mouth. If you see it, you’ll know. My lips got sucked in toward my cheek for a moment.

Park Min Young’s comments quickly spread across online communities afterward—and what began as a lighthearted variety-show joke has turned into a sexual harassment controversy, with online discussions continuing over the tone of the remarks and the context in which they were made.

While some defended Park Min Young for entertaining her audience, most reacted negatively to the actress’s unhinged commentary:

  • What era are we living in that she’d say something like that?
  • Ugh… please stop with the sexual harassment.
  • Ew…
  • It sounds like the kind of conversation middle-aged ahjummas have while peeling tangerines in a sauna… though I guess she’s at that age now?
  • Oh dear…
  • What’s wrong with Park Min Young? That’s so rude. It’s even more annoying when you watch the broadcast because she keeps repeating it without even laughing. The male actors are just trying to laugh it off. She should know when to stop.
  • As if anyone wanted to know that… LOL.
  • Damn, that’s seriously violent.
  • Seriously, if the genders were reversed, he’d be getting absolutely dragged for saying something like that. She should think before she speaks.
  • What’s wrong with her?
  • Seriously… think before you talk.
  • I can’t believe people are still talking about kiss scenes like this. Ugh.
  • I seriously hate it. I already didn’t like her, and this just makes me dislike her even more.
