The show’s team has already faced massive criticism for how they treated the fans who attended the taping. A staff member also allegedly made a racist remark toward BTS while filming.

Jimmy Fallon’s Staff Accused Of “Kidnapping” And “Torturing” BTS Fans At A Top-Secret Performance

While the majority of the backlash surrounding this episode has been directed at Fallon’s staff, many fans also criticized the ARMYs who were in the audience at the live studio. Two clips in particular have fueled this scrutiny— one where V said he missed Jungkookteasing” him, but everyone misheard it as “kissing”; and another where RM was answering a question when the audience broke into a loud cheer, yelling “six seven.”

Many felt the audience’s reactions in both instances were “cringey” and “embarrassing,” reinforcing the crazed fangirl image. However, some also theorized that the show’s team deliberately played into that stereotype.

There were also broader criticisms of fans who kept interrupting BTS during the interview with exaggerated, loud reactions.

Finally, some also pointed out how the crowd rushed toward BTS to touch them, criticizing the behavior as invasive.

Overall, BTS’s appearance on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon seems to be rife with controversies more than ever.
