Fan Behavior At BTS’s “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon” Gets Heavily Criticized
Recently, BTS made an appearance on the popular American late-night talk show, The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, to promote their latest comeback, ARIRANG.

The show’s team has already faced massive criticism for how they treated the fans who attended the taping. A staff member also allegedly made a racist remark toward BTS while filming.
Jimmy Fallon’s Staff Accused Of “Kidnapping” And “Torturing” BTS Fans At A Top-Secret Performance
While the majority of the backlash surrounding this episode has been directed at Fallon’s staff, many fans also criticized the ARMYs who were in the audience at the live studio. Two clips in particular have fueled this scrutiny— one where V said he missed Jungkook “teasing” him, but everyone misheard it as “kissing”; and another where RM was answering a question when the audience broke into a loud cheer, yelling “six seven.”
🐨: we actually lived together for six seven years…
💜: SIX SEVEN 🫴
🐰: SIX SEVEEEEN 🫴🏻
🐨: ???! what on earth is this
BTS: *confused*
🐰: see, everyone knows!! pic.twitter.com/5sNJX3sW6e— jungkook admirer (@dreamjeons) March 26, 2026

Many felt the audience’s reactions in both instances were “cringey” and “embarrassing,” reinforcing the crazed fangirl image. However, some also theorized that the show’s team deliberately played into that stereotype.

the fallon staff knew exactly what they were doing with this and playing into the whole crazed fangirl persona. my friends who are older than me who went were sat out of camera view and felt their experience was also tainted. https://t.co/9HIeXiFRMK

There were also broader criticisms of fans who kept interrupting BTS during the interview with exaggerated, loud reactions.
First american fans need to STOP that barking shit. Second why tf did they cut off namjoon and start to act like elementary kids yelling 67? Like yall don't know when to joke and not? He was talking about something and yall didn't let him finish. Third wtf that reaction to tae? https://t.co/6O0hUwDDxx

this may be a hot take but if ur going to a bts interview, i understand ur excited but like pls let them speak. the constant cheering and interrupting them to yell is honestly disrespectful and takes away from their time!!! u can cheer in the beginning and end, pls let them speak

Can we add to the army etiquette rules that if you happen to be in a room with BTS and they're getting interviewed you shut the fuck up and let them speak

Finally, some also pointed out how the crowd rushed toward BTS to touch them, criticizing the behavior as invasive.
This is so damn disrespectful! Can you keep your asses in your seats?! 😒😒 pic.twitter.com/TRkPLW6EzT

It’s probably just me, but I don’t get why people absolutely have to touch the boys. Of course, it’s nice if they shake your hand-IF THE BOYS MAKE THE FIRST MOVE!
But why do you have to touch everything you like?! Isn’t just being in the same room enough??!! https://t.co/5nCB0rkMky— ☆Bambi⁷ lives in 🐣 pocket♡ (@Purple_Bambiii) March 26, 2026
i was happy for them at first but i take it back, this is so disrespectful—they are humans, not animals in a petting zoo. https://t.co/eQfkBCyMD6
