Leigh-Anne opened up about her dynamic with Manon in a recent interview with Billboard. The interviewer mentioned that Manon’s hiatus was announced the same week Leigh-Anne dropped her album, asking how she felt watching the “age-old story of the sole Black girl group member getting sidelined.”
Leigh-Anne responded, “It does feel like a vicious cycle,” adding that thinking about this recurring pattern made her extremely distressed. She added that after the news of the hiatus, she reached out to Manon because it felt like “seeing history repeat itself again and again.”

It’s only ever been Kelly [Rowland], Beyoncé, and me. The fact that Mel B didn’t? What?!”
