Idol Leaves Fans Heartbroken With Raw Confession About Locking Herself Away In Isolation

In a short preview clip for You Quiz On The Block, AKMU member Lee Suhyun was seen getting candid about a difficult slump she experienced in the past.

In the video, Suhyun reflected on that difficult time, saying, “I actually lived for a long time without seeing sunlight.” Her brother and fellow AKMU member, Lee Chanhyuk, added, “From the family’s perspective, she looked like she was really struggling, but she herself didn’t realize it at the time.”

Then, what Suhyun continued to reveal about her period of mental health dip really broke her fans’ hearts.

I shut myself in my room and started living like a hikikomori. All I did was play games and eat delivery food, so I kept the curtains closed. I didn’t want to know whether it was day or night.

I binged every single day without missing a day. When you gain weight rapidly, it feels like your whole body is tearing apart. At the time, I thought, ‘There is no future for me.’

It was her brother Chanhyuk who eventually pulled her out of the dark. “I thought I would regret it if things reached a point of no return… If it got that bad and, say, I was to no longer have Suhyun in front of me,” he said, sharing that he actively sought to become a source of support for her during that time.
