For a while, the world had seemed to finally be moving on from its obsession with thinness in female bodies, and that change was slowly reflecting in the very restrictive standards of the K-Pop industry as well. However, with the current normalization of weight loss pills and extreme diets, more and more female celebrities are going back to square one. And many K-Pop fans are worried about how this trend is potentially affecting young female idols.

Recently, a video featuring LE SSERAFIM‘s Eunchae triggered such concern among fans, as many of them felt it was trying to push the idol toward body image issues.

The viral video featured photos of Eunchae from previous LE SSERAFIM comebacks, followed by clips of her during the most recent performances, suggesting she had gained weight.

With this video going viral across social media platforms, many fans were alarmed that it could negatively affect someone as young as Eunchae and even potentially push her toward developing a toxic relationship with food. A particular fan pointed out how Eunchae recently talked about feeling guilty for eating snacks, adding that such videos would only add to her mental load regarding this issue.

Many also defended Eunchae, pointing out that bodies change as people grow, and that she looked equally beautiful in both cases.

This worrying fan-made video has once again reflected on how consumers are equally responsible for propagating the beauty standards that they otherwise label as toxic.
