Earlier, Dua Lipa’s side filed a copyright and publicity rights infringement lawsuit against Samsung Electronics at the Central District Court of California. According to local reports, the compensation amount demanded by Dua Lipa’s side is said to reach $15 million USD.

The disputed image was used in Samsung Electronics’ TV marketing in the U.S. market in 2025. Samsung Electronics explained that after receiving confirmation from the content provider partner that the image use was permitted, they used it for packaging box production and marketing.

However, the situation changed when Dua Lipa’s side raised the issue in July last year, stating, “We never consented to the image use.” Samsung immediately stopped manufacturing the related boxes and began replacement work. Since then, both sides have reportedly discussed solutions through dialogue.

However, since no agreement was reached, the dispute escalated into a lawsuit.

On the 12th, Samsung Electronics stated in an official position, “The claim that we used the artist’s image without permission is not true,” adding, “We confirmed the rights to use the image through a content provider partner and utilized it.
