For years, BTS fans have been aware that Jimin’s father runs a café in Busan by the name “Magnate.” The place is frequently visited by ARMYs, even attracting tourists from abroad.

However, according to reports, since the idol’s father didn’t trademark the business name, it was copyrighted by someone else, forcing him to change the café’s name to “ZM-ILLENNIAL.”

Recently, the business issued a public notice, informing customers that a store was being opened near their location by the name of “Magnate.” However, it had no affiliation with the Park family. The notice was issued to ensure fans didn’t get confused between the two businesses.

As per reports, the new “Magnate” store will operate an apparel business. Despite it not being a direct competitor, fans felt that it was an audacious attempt to capitalize on a brand name that now has global popularity thanks to its association with Jimin. The fact that the store’s signboard contained the same typography as the old name of Jimin’s father’s café only made the outrage stronger.
