BTS’s Jungkook Is Finally Giving Fans Permission To Call Him “Oppa”

ARMYs can now call him “oppa” without any worries.

After years of protesting, BTS‘s Jungkook is finally letting fans call him “oppa”!

“Oppa” is an affectionate term that girls and women use to address their older brothers, older male friends, boyfriend, and male celebrities. In the past, Jungkook objected to being his fans’ oppa…

…no matter what the “Boy In Luv” lyrics say!

I want to be your oppa

— Jungkook (“Boy In Luv”)

He even told ARMY that he would check IDs, to make sure that the people calling him oppa were actually younger than him.

Over time, Jungkook has gotten more used to being an oppa, and he has even responded to “Jungkook-oppa” at fan events.

Fast forward to April 25, 2019. At BTS’s M2U fan sign, Jungkook made an announcement that thrilled fans. He said, “a baby, oppa, rabbit, and hyung…I’ll just do everything”.

Why did Jungkook suddenly make this decision? It may have something to do with his new “Jungkookie-hyung” status. Since he’s TXT‘s hyung now, he might as well be ARMY’s oppa too!
