Some of them even got cheated on!

While most K-Pop idols choose to be more private about their past relationships, there have been some idols who chose to be more open about them. Here’s a list of some K-Pop idols who’ve spoken about past breakups.

1. RM (BTS)

During an episode of Problematic Men, RM decided to share the story of why he broke up with his high school girlfriend.  When talking about their relationship, he revealed that there were a lot of things they didn’t match on.

He also shared that his girlfriend had a lot of guy friends at the time.

While RM doesn’t view this as a problem now, it did bother his younger self. His girlfriend also committed a lot of acts he viewed as unacceptable.

The two also had a lot of arguments due to their different personalities. It got to the point where RM was no longer being genuine about his feelings, so they decided to break up.

2. Jeon Somi

Somi has confessed in the past that she did have a boyfriend, but their relationship only lasted a week. Somi shared that they broke up because her boyfriend wasn’t satisfied with her.

Yes, I’ve dated in the past. He broke up with me after 1 week of dating because I couldn’t meet his expectations.

3. Ailee

On an episode of Video Star, Ailee shared the heartbreaking story of her ex-boyfriend. She shared that she was going to go surprise her boyfriend at his birthday party.

On his birthday, I told him I can’t go to his party because of my homework. But I was already on my way.

— Ailee

However, when Ailee arrived at the party, everyone started scattering and looking shocked. That’s when Ailee found her boyfriend cheating on her with another woman.

My boyfriend was being physically affectionate with another woman and I saw it.

— Ailee

Ailee was so shocked that she didn’t know how to react. While her boyfriend tried explaining the situation, it was already too late.

I was so shocked that I couldn’t say anything. Then my boyfriend said, ‘It’s a misunderstanding,’ but I had already seen everything.

— Ailee

Ailee ended up crying on her way back home.

I went a long way to get there but I came back crying and it was even raining on that day.

4. Henry Lau

Henry has shared in the past the heartbreaking story of his first love. He once had a girlfriend who he dated for 7 years before they broke up. However, the reason why they broke up is heartbreaking. They broke up after his girlfriend cheated on him with his best friend.

I had an ex-girlfriend whom I dated for seven years in Canada [..] She cheated on me…with my best friend.

— Henry Lau

This ended up giving Henry some trauma, as he hasn’t had a girlfriend after this incident.

5. Suga (BTS)

When Suga was in middle school, he decided to submit a letter about his love story to a local radio host.

| Pann

In the letter, he spoke on his ex-girlfriend and how they began their relationship.

I’m embarrassed to say but I liked a girl last year in my 2nd year of middle school.

Since I’m very shy, I wasn’t able to talk to her, so we stayed friends.

I became greedier as we got closer. I didn’t want to stay a friend, so I confessed my feelings.

But she said yes when I confessed I liked her.

— Suga

However, the two ran into problems once their relationship began, and Suga blamed himself for this.

We ended up dating but that’s when the problems started. Because I was so shy, I couldn’t act naturally with her now that she was my girlfriend.

I didn’t pay attention to her and compared to how our relationship was when we were just friends, there was a clear difference. Our relationship became awkward more than anything.

We didn’t date that long and due to all these problems, she said let’s just be friends and broke off the relationship. When I heard those words I felt like a side of my chest was hollow. I felt deserted.

— Suga

Suga concluded the letter with a heartwarming message to his ex-girlfriend.

If I could go back, I would treat her way better and I know I could do more for her. I would tell her I loved her and liked her proudly.

Thinking back to those days is hurtful and regretful for me. If she’s hearing me speak this confessional letter I want to say the following to her.

I am very sorry for treating you that way. You must’ve felt so hurt when I behaved like that. I personally think back and look at it as a good memory now.

Thank you for making that memory with me.

Recalling my past love…
Year 3 Class 3 No. 13 Min Yoon Gi

Hello, I’m Min Yoon Gi who lives in Daegu.

I’m embarrassed that I’m writing a letter to a radio that I’ve always listened to. Our Korean language teacher asked us to write a letter that could be sent to a radio.

I was contemplating on what to write, and I decided to write about my past love while reading Hwang Dong Kyu’s ‘Enjoyable Letter’.

3rd year of middle school, it might be a tender age to say that one’s in love. But it was a memory that held my true feelings from those heart-aching memories.

I’m embarrassed to say but I liked a girl last year in my 2nd year of middle school.

Since I’m very shy, I wasn’t able to talk to her, so we stayed friends.

We didn’t date that long and due to all these problems, she said let’s just be friends and broke off the relationship. When I heard those words I felt like a side of my chest was hollow. I felt deserted.

I truly understood where she was coming from when she broke off the relationship and I went into reflection after that.

I would think about everything I did wrong and how I could better myself. I also think back now about those days and wish I would’ve behaved differently.

If I could go back, I would treat her way better and I know I could do more for her. I would tell her I loved her and liked her proudly.
