Fans have long wondered what really happened behind the scenes when 4MINUTE suddenly disbanded in 2016. Recently, shocking details resurfaced about just how abrupt and painful the decision was for the members.

According to Sohyun‘s recent YouTube video, when Cube Entertainment was in the middle of discussing contract renewals, maknae Sohyun asked for more time to think about her future. However, before she could give her answer, the group suddenly received an official notice that they were disbanding.

The news came as a shock to everyone — including the members themselves. Feeling blindsided, Jiyoon and Sohyun even went to the home of Cube Entertainment’s former CEO in hopes of talking through the situation. But instead of being welcomed, they were turned away at the door and never got the chance to speak to him.

I still remember going with Jiyoon to see the CEO and us being turned away at the door. When the five of us gathered, I said just once that I needed time to think about my future and [we got the news about disbandment] right after. I never had the chance to talk to the CEO, so why was this notice suddenly dropped on us? It felt like my world had collapsed. We took the car with Jiyoon unnie and went to see the CEO.

The revelation has reignited discussions online about how poorly the group was treated during their final days together, with fans expressing anger that such an iconic girl group ended in such a cold and abrupt way.

To this day, many still believe 4MINUTE’s disbandment was one of the most heartbreaking and mishandled endings in K-Pop history.
