Actor Hyun Bin Confirmed To Be Joining The Marine Corps

He’s among the very few celebrities who enlisted in the specific force.

Former JBJ member and actor Kwon Hyun Bin is confirmed to be joining the Marine Corps for his mandatory military service.

On October 24, KST, Kwon’s management agency, Ghost Studio, released an official statement, informing fans that the actor will enter the Marine Corps Education and Training Battalion on November 24 and undergo military training to fulfill his mandatory service. The agency also clarified that the enlistment will be conducted privately without any official event and urged fans to respect the privacy of his fellow military personnel and their families.

With this enlistment, Kwon Hyun Bin becomes one of the few other celebrities who served in the Marine Corps, including Hyun Bin and Oh Jong Hyuk (2011); AKMU’s Lee Chanhyuk (2017); SHINee’s Minho (2019); and BLOCK B’s P.O (2022). Currently, rapper Gree, son of Kim Gura, is also serving in the Marine Corps.

Kwon Hyun Bin, who will enlist in November, is scheduled to be discharged from his military service on May 30, 2027.

Kwon first gained attention as a fashion model and rose to prominence with his participation in Mnet’s 2017 survival audition show, Produce 101 Season 2. He ranked 22nd in the final round and later debuted as a member of the group JBJ. He also released a solo album later under the name VIINI.

Kwon has also pursued acting, making his debut in the 2017 MBC drama, Borg Mom. Some of his other projects include The Red Sleeve and Pandora: Beneath the Paradise.
