Backlash Reignites Over Actress Lee Si Young’s “Gift From God” Baby
On November 5, 2025 (KST), Sweet Home actress Lee Si Young shared the news of her giving birth to her second child with her ex-husband. Calling her newborn daughter a “gift that God has given” to her, the actress swore to keep her two children happy for the rest of her life.

And while, normally, the news of a safe childbirth is to be celebrated, Lee Si Young’s update is reigniting backlash over her decisions.
Lee Si Young married a businessman in 2017 and welcomed their first son, Jung Yoon as named in her Instagram post, the following year. In March of 2025, however, the actress announced her divorce after eight years of marriage.
Then, in July, Lee Si Young revealed that she was pregnant with her ex-husband’s child, without the ex-husband’s consent, via IVF with an embryo previously frozen during their marriage. At the time, the actress explained that she couldn’t discard the embryos and decided to move forward with the procedure.

That said, the update from Lee Si Young is not being the most well received across Korean online communities.

While netizens wished the best for the actress’s newborn daughter, they didn’t have as nice things to say to Lee Si Young herself. Some even questioned the way she phrased her update, noting how “bizarre” it is to call the baby a “gift from God” given the circumstances behind her birth.
