Park recalled that the day before Simon passed away, he was playing happily with friends and had a good appetite. But in the early morning, he suddenly developed a fever. Since it was a common symptom, she gave him fever reducing medication without suspecting anything and his fever eventually went down. At that time, Park Yo Han was at a tournament in Namhae.

Park Bo Mi continued, recollecting how, in the morning, his face was slightly flushed again, which prompted her to take him to a nearby pediatrician. However, at the clinic, there were 23 patients waiting before them, and at that time, COVID-19 cases were high. Simon also started crying unexpectedly. So, Park decided to take him out in the stroller and take him to the hospital instead. While her neighbors were driving her to the hospital, Simon suddenly stiffened in her arms and went limp.

The actress broke into tears, admitting that as a mother, she had the feeling that Simon had died.

I don’t even remember how I got to the hospital. When we arrived at the emergency room, I called my husband and my mother. I said, ‘Mom, I think Simon is dead. He’s not waking up.’ I told my husband too. He was about to start a match in two minutes, but when he heard that, he was so shocked that he immediately bought a ticket and came back.

Park Yo Han also recalled that dreadful moment, stating that he was surprised to see his wife call him before a game since it was unusual. “Then she said Simon wasn’t breathing and that he might be dead. I couldn’t believe it,” he added.

Park Bo Mi continued, sharing that multiple medical professionals tried to save Simon, but his heart refused to start. He was in cardiac arrest for 40 minutes. Then, suddenly, his heart started beating again, giving Park some hope. But the doctors checked his brain activity, which showed no response. He had to be moved to the ICU, where he spent the final week of his life. “I think Simon’s heart started beating again just so he could give his mom and dad a little more time with him,” Park added.
