Popular Actress Reveals Burn Scar On Her Face For The First Time—Here’s What Happened

In March 2025, it was reported that actress Yoon Ji Ni (Yoon Jin Yi), best known for her beloved role in the 2012 K-Drama A Gentleman’s Dignity, suffered a second-degree burn on her face while undergoing wrinkle-reducing procedures at a dermatologist clinic.

According to the reports, the incident took place in 2021, when Yoon Ji Ni visited “Dr. A‘s” clinic in Seocho-gu, Seoul, to receive three types of wrinkle treatments—including ones that involve ultrasound and laser. While under sedation for the treatments, Yoon Ji Ni sustained a burn to her left cheek. The medical staff is said to have applied a moisture bandage over the wound, but it was later diagnosed to be a second-degree burn.

Since then, Yoon Ji Ni has undergone 50+ treatment sessions in an attempt to restore the scar, but as spotted in her latest YouTube video, she has not fully recovered, and the scar remains visible.

In her daily vlog content uploaded on May 20, 2025 (KST), Yoon Ji Ni wore light makeup, revealing the distinct dark spot under her left eye. The discoloration is thought to be the scar from the 2021 incident.

At the time when she suffered the burn, Yoon Ji Ni was preparing to shoot her weekend K-Drama, Young Lady And Gentleman. The burn scar led the actress to spend an additional ₩9.55 million KRW (about $6,990 USD) on CG to edit out the scar in all of her scenes. Yoon then sued Dr. A for ₩200 million KRW (about $146,000 USD), and the Seoul Central District Court has since ruled in favor of the actress.

The court acknowledged the dermatologist’s medical negligence and ordered compensation totaling ₩50.0 million KRW (about $36,600 USD), factoring in ₩11.2 million KRW (about $8,170 USD) for the scar treatment, ₩11.0 million KRW (about $8,050 USD) for additional treatments needed, ₩10.8 million KRW (about $7,890 USD) for projected lost income, and ₩25.0 million KRW (about $18,300 USD) for emotional distress.

Yoon Ji Ni got married to Kim Tae Geun, a finance expert, in October 2022. She gave birth to their first daughter in March the following year. On February 24th of this year, she welcomed their second daughter, becoming a mother of two.
