A Fan’s Alleged Call With ITZY’s Yeji Comes Under Major Criticism For What They Showed The Idol

“… Is a new level of low…”

Netizens believe that deepfakes are becoming a curse. A deepfake is a video of a person in which their face or body has been altered so that they appear to be someone else and have been used maliciously or to spread false information. Within the past few months, many have been spread across social media, featuring Korean celebrities.

While the original tweet has been deleted, netizens couldn’t hide their anger at how inappropriate it was to show a deepfake to an idol. Although netizens claimed that Yeji was impressed by it, they still thought it was wrong and showcased that AI is going too far when it comes to respecting idols.

The opportunity for fan calls is the perfect way for fans across the world to interact with idols, but netizens worry it is going too far.
