Beloved Actor Got Smacked By A Woman For Playing His Role Too Well
A beloved K-Drama actor recently shared a wild story of how one of his successful projects also landed him in trouble with the public, simply because he played the villainous role too well.
The actor in question is Ji Seung Hyun, a prominent face in the K-Drama world.
Recently, the actor appeared as a guest on the MBC variety show, Radio Star, where he shared the crazy anecdote. He recalled that while filming KBS 2TV‘s historical K-Drama, Goreyo Khitan War, he had received the offer to play an adulterer in SBS‘s The Good Partner. “I hesitated,” the actor admitted, “but I wanted to show different sides of myself, so I decided to take the role.”
The Good Partner, which aired through August and September last year, brought Ji immense public attention for his role as an adulterous husband. People’s reactions to his character were so strong that he also made an “apology” video for it.

Ji Seung Hyun revealed that once he went to a gas station, and the woman who owned it, smacked him on the back! This wasn’t an isolated incident either. He went onto share another instance, when he attended a staff member’s wedding while The Good Partner was still airing. He heard people around him whispering, “Isn’t that Jang Na Ra’s husband? He’s a terrible jerk.”
According to the actor, he had anticipated these kinds of reactions while filming the K-Drama, since his character had very intense lines.

These strong reactions, however, has not deterred the actor from undertaking challenging and negative roles. During the same Radio Star episode, he revealed that for his next project, he will be slipping into the shoes of a “total lunatic, a psychopathic character.” The story, he revealed, deals with current social issues such as voice phishing and deepfake scams.
Given his previous skin-crawling performances in negative roles, Ji Seung Hyun’s upcoming project has teased viewers’ anticipation. But will it lead to more aggressive appreciations, like a smack on the back, for the actor? Only time will tell.
