BLACKPINK Is The First Korean Girl Group To Become Million Sellers With "THE ALBUM"

Although BLACKPINK may have already topped charts, set numerous records, and written several pages in the history books with their first full-length album THE ALBUM, there’s no stopping the powerhouse girl group as they just made history once again with their album sales!

YG Entertainment recently announced that BLACKPINK’s THE ALBUM had sold a total of 1,209,543 copies as of October 26. The total sales include approximately 871,355 domestic sales 319,300 sales in Europe and the U.S., as well as 18,888 copies of the limited-edition LP which sold out quickly.

Selling over 1.2 million copies isn’t just an impressive achievement, it’s a historic one! Having surpassed 1 million sales, BLACKPINK not only achieved million-seller status but they also became the first K-Pop girl group in history to reach 1 million sales! Before this, the highest album sales record for a girl group was about 760,000 copies.

After BLACKPINK released THE ALBUM on October 2, they not only topped charts around the world, they also made history. They quickly become the first K-Pop girl group to debut at no. 2 on both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Charts’ albums chart, the first K-Pop girl group to enter the top 10 of the Billboard 200 chart for 2 weeks straight, as well as, the first K-Pop girl group to debut at no. 1 on Billboard’s Artist 100 chart.
