BLACKPINK’s Jennie To Make Her Acting Debut In HBO Series “The Idol”

The first official trailer was released today!

BLACKPINK‘s Jennie is an idol with many talents. She regularly showcases her singing, rapping, and dancing skills as an idol, and it appears she is now adding acting to that list of talents.

It was previously reported on June 17 by TV Daily that Jennie was offered a role on the upcoming HBO series, The Idol. The series was co-created by Canadian singer-songwriter The WeekndEuphoria‘s Sam Levinson, and Reza Fahim.

It seems Jennie has officially accepted the role as she was spotted in the official trailer released today.

Jennie’s role will make her the first Korean idol to debut in an HBO series. The series will follow an up-and-coming pop star, played by Lily-Rose Depp, and it appears that Jennie may be playing a dancer.

“The Idol” is set set against the backdrop of the music industry, centers on a self-help guru and leader of a modern-day cult, who develops a complicated relationship with an up-and-coming pop idol.

In the moments Jennie appeared in the trailer, she unsurprisingly made a significant impact as she shared the screen with fellow global superstars The Weeknd, Lily-Rose Depp, and Troye Sivan.

The show will surely be a hit with its star-studded cast and crew. While the official release date has yet to be announced, The Idol is expected to be released this year.
