BLACKPINK’s Jennie has gone viral for a rather unexpected moment at the 2025 Melon Music Awards (MMA).
Jennie attended the award show as a soloist, rocking the stage with her set and wowing fellow idols and fans alike with her star presence. She also won big on the night, taking home the Record of the Year Daesang, becoming the first soloist in history to do so.
But it isn’t any of this commotion that has sparked the recent discourse about her MMA appearance on social media. Rather, it’s a clip of her hesitantly looking back and forth while trying to take her seat.
The reason behind this clip going so viral is the fact that it looked like Jennie was trying to decide whether to greet a male idol standing behind her or not. She ultimately sits down, covering up the awkwardness of the moment with her signature smile.

Now, some people perceived the moment as Jennie actually getting flustered by ALPHA DRIVE ONE’s Leo, the idol standing behind her, and found it cute.

Some others, however, theorized that she was probably mistaken by Leo’s resemblance with TXT’s Yeonjun, a junior idol she is personally familiar with, and hence the slight confusion while trying to greet him.

However, a third group of fans clarified that the angle of the clip completely misrepresented Jennie’s actions. In another clip of the same moment, taken from the front, it showed that she was actually trying to figure out whether she should sit down by looking around at the other idols in the seating area.
