The Important Piece Of Advice That Lily Rose-Depp Gave BLACKPINK’s Jennie On The Set Of HBO’s “The Idol”
BLACKPINK‘s Jennie made her acting debut in HBO‘s The Idol. The series tells the story of Jocelyn (Lily Rose-Depp) and her entanglement with self-help guru Tedros (The Weeknd) as she sets to reclaim her title as the sexiest popstar in America.
Jennie was open about feeling honored to be part of the show. Considering it is her first time acting, she felt more nervous and grateful than normal.
It’s overwhelming, but I’m grateful and thankful. All of those things at the same time. Especially as it’s the first step in my acting career, I was honored to be able to come.

As an idol in her own right, the role came more naturally to her. She told Women’s Wear Daily that director Sam Levinson, the same man in charge of famous TV show Euphoria, imparted on Jennie the importance of just being herself.
It was an opportunity to just be myself and be brave. I didn’t really train for it, or prep anything. Sam wanted me to just be myself.

Still, she admitted that it was “a challenge” to act in The Idol. Her lack of experience in a project like this made it difficult for her to tackle.
It definitely was a challenge, because I’ve never experienced anything like that before. It was like, breaking a wall for me.

To Jennie’s delight, lead actress Lily Rose-Depp gave her tips while they were both on set. The two had previously met during CHANEL shows as they are both ambassadors of the brand. This meant that the K-Pop idol thankfully had a familiar face on the set.
She really helped me a lot. Telling me about scenes, and it was very comforting to have her there.

Lily Rose-Depp helped greatly in putting her at ease. She was able to lessen Jennie’s worries and calm her nerves. Confidence was key in playing her role as Dyanne well.
She just taught me to express myself and be comfortable with myself, to not be scared.
