BLACKPINK’s Lisa Dispels Any Rumors About Disbandment

She addressed it with certainty.

BLACKPINK has been on an extended hiatus that has led to some fans questioning whether the group, whose contract is up for renewal in 2023, would separate and go on to focus on their individual promotions or stay together.

However, despite BLACKPINK’s recent focus on solo activities, the members seem to have no thoughts of disbanding and are actively working on an upcoming group album.

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Lisa actually touched on the concern of disbandment and has officially set any rumors about BLACKPINK’s future to rest.

Have you ever wondered what will happen if BLACKPINK ends one day?

— Rolling Stone interview question

In fact, Lisa directly stated that BLACKPINK hasn’t even talked about the possibility of separating.

I don’t think we’ve even talked about this amongst ourselves.

The idol admits that BLACKPINK has joked about what their future holds, but far from now, not in the near future.

We’ve jokingly said, ‘Jisoo unnie is going to live in Hawaii. Lisa will return to Thailand.’

But Lisa shares that she really doesn’t want to think about their eventual parting.

… But I don’t want to think about the end. It’s too sad.

Still, she admits that although the members actively promoting together will someday come to a close, she is hopeful that they will still be BLACKPINK and can still have reunion concerts.

Someday we’ll get married and things like that. But then I see the Spice Girls, how they got together for a reunion concert. Can we do that too someday? Will I be able to dance then, like I do now?

And, according to Lisa, BLACKPINK has, at a minimum, ten more years together.

I mean, won’t BLACKPINK last at least ten more years? We’ll be nearly 40 by then.

— Lisa

And while Lisa has certainly dispelled any rumors of BLACKPINK disbanding in the near future, she admits that she isn’t quite sure what she’ll be doing in her forties.

I don’t know [what I’ll be doing in my forties]. I’ll still have good vibes, doing different things, like now.

And as for BLACKPINK’s near future, Lisa shares just how busy the members are, proving that they’re hard at work to give fans lots of content to eagerly look forward to.

[These days] we’re all going back and forth from the recording studio, or doing our own stuff, or going abroad because of fashion business. I’ve been working nonstop for the past week without a break.
