BTS Jin And RM Explain Why They Envy Their Non-Celebrity Friends

Being famous and being ordinary both have their downsides.

The proverb “the grass is always greener on the other side” means that people often perceive the lives of others as being more desirable than their own. BTS‘s members have experienced this first hand.

In Episode 6 of Break The SilenceJin talked about how he and his friends envy each other’s lives for different reasons.

RM agreed, having experienced the same thing with his own friends.

These friends don’t have the financial freedom that BTS’s members have, but they have the luxury of anonymity. Unlike Jin and RM, they can go anywhere they please without worry.

Suga added that the “grass is always greener on the other side”. What other people have, and how they live, seems more special when it’s out of reach.

In a previous episode, Suga confessed to being jealous of people who are able to do ordinary activities, like going out to eat, that he no longer can do as a public figure.

I’m really jealous of people who can go out to eat, travel, go to the movies with friends, and things like that. Those things are really special to me because I find them hard to do.

— Suga

What makes everything easier for BTS, however, is having friends who are going through the same things they are. “It keeps you sane, right?” RM said.
