The One “Burning Question” BTS’s V Faced While Preparing For His Solo Debut

There was only one thought that occupied his mind everyday.

BTS‘s V is gearing up for the release of his first solo album, Layover, on September 8. In a recent interview, the singer got candid about the album-making process.

So far, V has already shared two music videos from Layover, “Love Me Again” and “Rainy Days.” In both the tracks, he showed completely new vocal colors that fans couldn’t get enough of.

In an interview with W Korea, the BTS member shared that the experience of recording solo songs for his album took him back to his trainee days. “It was like rediscovering my vocal idenity,” he shared, adding that now he has found new elements that enhance his skills as a vocalist.

The entire process was reminiscent of revisiting my early vocal training days. It was like rediscovering my vocal identity. I stumbled upon my new vocal identity – certain tonalities and pronunciations seemed to resonate more now.

While V called this album-making process “fulfilling,” he also had his concerns.

The rest of the BTS members have already made their official solo debuts, one after another, within a year. Fans have been waiting with bated breath for V’s turn, and now that his debut is just around the corner, the spotlight is all his. A situation like this could be pressuring for an artist, and V said he had one “burning question” in his mind during the months he spent creating the album.

The singer said he is eager to meet ARMYs after such a long time of being absent from the stage. But his foremost concern was if his “grand return” requires him to be on a diet.

It feels like forever since I’ve been solo and connected with the ARMY on stage. The burning question in my mind? ‘Do I need to diet for this grand return?’ Trust me, that thought was non-stop (Laugh).

Needless to say, diet or no diet, ARMYs would support his new album the same. But it looks like the “burning question” has settled, as V recently shared during a live broadcast that he will be starting a diet soon.
