RM’s Worries About BTS’s Next Chapter, And V’s Unshakable Faith In ARMY

“Got ARMY right behind us…”

In a bittersweet turn of events, BTS announced that “Chapter 2” of their careers involves some time apart. To rejuvenate and recenter themselves–both as BTS and as individuals–BTS’s members will be focusing less on group activities and pursuing solo ventures, for the time being.

During their 2022 FESTA dinner, BTS spoke candidly to fans, opening up about their struggles and future plans. It was a difficult decision to make, but the members feel like it’s time to try something new. This will involve releasing official solo albums and solo promotions.

J-Hope told me this before. We could focus on our solo work this time, and later, when we gather again as a group, that synergy will be like no other. We’ll be better than before.

Naturally, the members can’t help worrying about ARMY, the fans who have championed BTS since day one and turned their wildest dreams into reality. RM especially–as a leader and lyricist–has been feeling like he’s stuck between a rock and a hard place.

On the one hand, RM doesn’t want to let ARMY down, but on the other hand, he needs time to get a firmer grasp on who he and BTS have become. Otherwise, it will be difficult to produce music with a sincere message.

But right now, we’ve lost our direction, and I just want to take some time to think and then return but that just feels rude to our fans and like I’m letting down their expectations. We achieved this much thanks to our fans but we aren’t living up to their expectations.

— RM

was quick to comfort RM and ease his worries. He believes that the majority of ARMYs will support BTS’s decision and their ever-evolving music.

But I think most of our fans wouldn’t think like that. Because they know our sincerity. I think 90% of our fans would root for us, no matter what kind of music or what kind of direction we choose.

HYBE has since released an official statement, clarifying the news. BTS is not on hiatus, but rather focusing more on solo projects at this time. Even so, fans are expressing their unwavering support online. No matter BTS chooses, they will always have ARMY by their side.
