Danielle Goes Viral For Her Unexpected Reaction To NewJeans’ Music Show Win
NewJeans ended 2022 with their anticipated first comeback, releasing their B-side single “Ditto” on December 19 before beginning 2023 with their title track “OMG,” released on January 2.
The fresh new singles immediately topped the charts with their catchy beats and smooth vocals, with fans worldwide dancing along to the fun choreography.
Their new EP OMG has already broken multiple records, including becoming the fastest K-Pop group to sell over a million copies of their album. Despite how well the songs are performing, Hanni surprisingly revealed that the group wasn’t sure the song would perform well after the success of their B-side pre-release track, “Ditto.”
NewJeans is actively promoting both songs on music shows and ran into a unique predicament during KBS Music Bank‘s January 27th broadcast.
After IVE Wonyoung‘s final day as MC, it was announced that NewJeans’ leader Minji would act as a special MC for two weeks alongside actor Lee Chae Min.
On the January 27th broadcast of music bank, the award ceremony consisted of a face-off between two songs. For likely one of the first times, fans were surprisingly in agreement that both songs were meant to win, and that’s because they were both NewJeans’ songs!
With Minji as the MC, NewJeans split into two teams. Hanni and Hyein formed team “OMG” while Danielle and Haerin formed team “Ditto.”
As the final scores were tallied, it looked like “Ditto” was going to win until “OMG” took the lead.
Haerin and Danielle were eagerly watching the scores until realizing their team “lost,” and jokingly reacted in a “disappointed” way.
Danielle’s hilarious response quickly went viral as fans couldn’t get over the adorable reaction and impressive feat NewJeans has achieved as a monster rookie group.
