K-Pop Idol Reveals She Used To Cover Her Natural Skin Tone During Group Promotions
WJSN member-turned-soloist Dayoung opened up about the misunderstanding surrounding her skin tone.

In the latest episode of MBC’s The Manager, the K-Pop idol appeared as a guest and gave viewers a look into her daily life. During the episode, the cast commented on Dayoung’s bronzed complexion. Jun Hyun Moo then added, “You look like a pop star visiting Korea. You look like you just came out of a tanning salon.”

Dayoung clarified that many people have misunderstood her skin tone.
A lot of people think my skin is tanned, but this is actually my natural skin tone.

She then revealed that during her WJSN promotions, she used to cover not only her face but also her body with makeup to make her skin appear lighter. Dayoung explained that she had to be careful about matching her face and body, since using lighter makeup only on her face could make the contrast look unnatural.

When I was promoting with WJSN, I used body makeup too. I also used a lighter foundation. But if only my face looked pale, it would look like kabuki makeup, so I seriously used one bottle of foam cleanser every two weeks.

Dayoung debuted as a member of WJSN in 2016 and has since stepped into a new image as a solo artist. Her comments drew attention for highlighting the difference between her current look and the image she maintained during group promotions.
