“Disastrous” K-Pop Music Festival “KAMP” Announces Its Return With First Artist Line-Up

Many called it the “Fyre Festival” of K-Pop.

In 2022, a festival new to the United States, KAMP LA 2022, was announced and thrilled fans with its star-studded line-up, including artists like EXO‘s Kai, Girls’ Generation‘s Taeyeon, GOT7‘s BamBam, Super Junior, and iKON.

A massive sign of trouble occurred just days before the event when several artists could not leave Korea due to visa problems. Ultimately, six artists were announced to no longer perform at the event, with some artists now performing on both days of the festival.

In addition to their strange policy of no unofficial merch, including fan-made freebies being distributed, fans also felt scammed by the $2000 USD VIP that did not include an “actual” meet & greet.

Not only did fans have issues with the festival, but the artists that made it there did as well. Many artists, including Epik High, threw shade at the event, with the trio doing it while performing.

K-Pop fans worldwide were sure that the Fye Festival of K-Pop was likely to disappear after this, but it seems like the event will be taking place again, this time in a new location!

On March 22, it was announced that KAMP 2023 would be taking place in Mexico City, Mexico, on August 19 and 20.

In addition to sharing a map of the venue, KAMP also announced eight of the sixteen total artists that would perform over the two days — BamBam, iKON, LAPILLUS, TFN, CHUNGHA, KARD, SIK-K (and friends), and VIVIZ.

According to event organizers, the second line-up of artists will be announced on April 9. Tickets will go on sale beginning March 28, with the first phase of ticket prices ranging from around $106 USD for general admission to around $430 USD for the “SUPER VIP ZONE.”
