He exposed the frustrating system.

A second-generation male idol, known for his wealthy status, recently shared that his digital financial account was hacked.

The idol in question is Kim Jaejoong. Recently, he made a public post disclosing that his Kakao Pay account had been hacked. The hacker had changed his account password without his knowledge, completely locking him out of the account and preventing him from seeking help.

Jaejoong explained that he contacted customer service multiple times to get a resolution, but despite spending over an hour on the phone, the issue remained unsolved. He criticized the system sternly, recalling that he was asked the new password that was set by the hacker. “Why does the victim have to prove the damage?” he rebuked.

His experience was made frustrating by the entire support process. “I mentally broke down,” he added, recalling how he was told he would be redirected to a different department, but it turned out to be the same department he had spoken to initially. Though he made it clear that the workers were trying their best, he emphasized that the system was thoroughly flawed.

The issue was eventually solved in two days by terminating and deleting the account, and no further financial loss was reported. Jaejoong labeled the incident “terrifying.”

The idol’s account has reignited discussions about cybersecurity in Korea’s digital financial platforms. Given that even high-profile figures easily fall victim to such threats, people are voicing their concern about the safety of common people on such platforms.
