Former NCT Taeil Appeals His Prison Sentence
Former NCT member Taeil has filed an appeal after being sentenced to prison after his first trial for aggravated quasi-rape.

According to legal sources, Taeil submitted his appeal on July 16, a day after the prosecution also appealed the ruling. The two parties, who will contest the sentence, are expected to fight a legal battle in the appellate court.
On July 10, KST, the Seoul Central District Court Criminal Division 26 sentenced Taeil to three years and six months in prison for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment of Sexual Crimes (specifically quasi-rape). Taeil had been tried without detention and was taken into custody after the verdict.
Taeil and his two co-defendants admitted to all charges during the first trial, but the former idol’s legal team appealed for leniency.
He voluntarily submitted a statement to the police and despite difficulties, he reached a settlement with the Chinese victim, who also submitted a statement of non-punishment.

The two co-defendants of Taeil, who were also sentenced with him, have already submitted their appeal to the court.
Previously, the prosecution demanded seven years in prison and ten years of employment restrictions for all three defendants. Netizens are hoping that the final sentencing for the accused will be proportionate to their crime.
