G-Dragon Takes His First Public Steps After Being Cleared Of Drug Allegations

It was inspired by his drug controversy.

BIGBANG‘s G-Dragon, who was recently cleared of drug allegations, made his first public announcement.

Following his drug allegations, G-Dragon has shown his commitment to supporting those who face prejudice and injustice, promoting awareness and solutions to social issues, and working towards creating a fair society where everyone is treated equally.

On December 25, G-Dragon’s agency Galaxy Corporation revealed that G-Dragon is establishing a foundation for drug eradication and addiction treatment, along with a donation of ₩300 million KRW (about $231,000 USD).

His agency announced that the foundation is  called the JUSPEACE Foundation, combining “justice” and “peace.” The initial donation is ₩300 million KRW (about $231,000 USD), solely contributed by G-Dragon.

Earlier, on December 21, G-Dragon explained the motive behind establishing the foundation in a handwritten letter, stating that he became aware of the severity of drug addiction through his drug allegations. He shared that he will make the first donation under a name that means a lot to him and his fans.

The first donation will be based on the name of VIP (BIGBANG’s fandom name), and I will make a full donation under the name of the Guardians of Daisy, which I voluntarily created through this incident.

Galaxy Corporation’s CEO, Choi Yong Ho, further explained the foundation’s goal.

The foundation will establish a strong determination to realize a society without prejudice through Kwon Jiyong (G-Dragon)’s music and will carry out activities accordingly… The foundation’s first project will focus on activities for drug eradication and the treatment of addicted youth.

Choi Yong Ho stated that G-Dragon plans to raise awareness of the dangers of drugs through drug eradication campaigns and spread empathy for important social issues with fans to provide hope and opportunities for young people.

He also emphasized that the foundation aims to create a society where everyone is equal.

Earlier this year, G-Dragon faced investigation and controversy over drug allegations, but the police ultimately cleared him of charges and decided not to prosecute.
