Girl group Loossemble consists of five former LOONA members. As they prepare for their re-debut, Yeojin and ViVi opened a live stream to talk to fans. The topic turned to dieting, a common issue for many idols.

Due to standards of beauty in K-Pop, most girl groups are forced to participate in strict diets before debut and during their rookie days. Later on, when they have more experience in the industry and learn how to take care of their bodies, they are often given more freedom in self-management. For ViVi and Yeojin, it was of no exception. The LOONA girls were put on strict diets.

Yeojin recalled a time where she ate a hamburger without the company knowing. She did not get caught until a whole month later, when the receipt fell out of her clothes.

That was when the staff called all the members together. They confiscated everything that could be eaten in the dorms, from food to supplements.

They even took away cooking condiments like salt and sugar!

The girls only were given half an apple and two eggs daily.

This would happen whenever any girl was caught straying from their diet by eating unhealthy foods. The harsher diet was given so that they could get back on track. This is shocking as all the LOONA members are extremely petite. In particular, Yeojin is one of the smallest members at 148cm (4’ 10’) and 37kg (81.5 lbs).

Yeojin.

Thankfully, as the generations move forward, more companies are open to providing balanced and healthy diets for their idols rather than crash diets.
