Girls’ Generation “The Best Live at Tokyo Dome” sweeps Oricon weekly charts
Girls’ Generation swept three Oricon weekly charts with the release of The Best Live at Tokyo Dome, proving their immense popularity yet again.
Released on April 1st, The Best Live at Tokyo Dome captures the group’s first Tokyo Dome concert four years after their Japanese debut with over 50,000 audience members in 2014, where various hits such as “Gee,” “Mr. Taxi,” “Flower Power,” “Paparazzi,” and “Galaxy Supernova” were performed.
Less than a day after its release, the Blu-Ray and DVD versions have quickly swept three main daily charts, topping the DVD chart, DVD music chart, and Blu-Ray Disk chart. A week after its release, the concert collection has managed to maintain its position, topping weekly charts of the three categories mentioned above.
Prior to this, the group had previously topped Oricon daily and weekly DVD charts, a ranking that was never achieved by foreign artists, with Girls’ Generation First Japan Tour, a DVD and Blu-Ray that captured performance and footage from the group’s first Japan tour.
Meanwhile, Girls’ Generation has released the music video for “Catch Me If You Can,” the group’s tenth Japanese single and first Korean release after the departure of former member Jessica. The Japanese single is expected to be released on April 22nd.
