Top Idol-Turned-Actress Addresses Having TWO of Her “Controversial” Male Leads Swapped Out
The thing is, Girls’ Generation member YoonA is such a well-established actress now that she can work magic with any and all of her co-stars. But even for her, it must have been unsettling to have not one, but two of her male leads get swapped out mid-scandals.

In her latest interview, the idol-turned-actress addressed the casting mishaps and shared her honest thoughts about starring alongside actor Ahn Bo Hyun in her upcoming K-Movie, Pretty Crazy. Initially, actor Kim Seon Ho was cast for the role of Gil Gu, but he stepped down amid a scandal surrounding his personal life.

Similarly, for her upcoming tvN K-Drama, Bon Appetit, Your Majesty, she was supposed to star with actor Park Sung Hoon until he withdrew after a controversial social media post deemed him unfit for a rom-com. Park Sung Hoon was replaced by actor Lee Chae Min.

Regarding her male lead co-stars getting swapped out back-to-back, YoonA said she took it as a sign to focus more on her roles. Instead of letting the controversies shake her, the idol actress decided to keep rooted—and, thankfully, it worked out!

Personally, I focused more on thinking about my own characters. These were projects where I spent a lot of time figuring out how to best portray my roles. So even amid all the things that happened with the original male lead co-stars, I just thought, ‘I should focus on doing my part of the job well.’ Fortunately, all of my new co-stars really brought their characters to life and fit them so well, so I felt happy and grateful.
