This marked her second consecutive year hosting the ceremony.

In 2023, after the 44th ceremony, actress Kim Hye Soo—who served as the “face of Blue Dragon” for 30 years—stepped down. Actress Han Ji Min took over as the new host, starting her reign as of the 45th ceremony in 2024. This year, marking her second consecutive year leading the event, the actress has faced criticism about the limits of her abilities as an MC, with some suggesting she failed to guide the ceremony smoothly.

THE FACT reported that Han Ji Min returned after a year of preparation, “but her improvement was minimal.”

While [Han Ji Min] appeared slightly more composed than last year and made fewer glaring mistakes, she was ultimately unable to conceal the pressure and tension she felt throughout the ceremony. Her delivery lacked ownership of the lines, resulting in a stiff, almost textbook-like tone. This was compounded by occasional mispronunciations and incomplete sentence endings, diminishing the overall clarity of her presentation.

The scathing review highlighted Han Ji Min’s inexperience with hosting, apparent in the way she “struggled to respond naturally to co-host Lee Je Hoon‘s lighthearted ad-libs, leaving little visible chemistry or charm between the two throughout the broadcast.”

That said, THE FACT concluded that Han Ji Min does have the potential to fill Kim Hye Soo’s shoes “if her skills stabilize.” Amid the public opinion leaning negative, all eyes are on whether she will return to host next year’s Blue Dragon Film Awards.
