HYBE Called Out For “Repeated” Formula Of Disguising The Sexualization Of Minors

Fans see a pattern.

KATSEYE recently released “Gnarly,” only to be met with severe criticism. While the song and concept was praised for being unique, some pointed out that the dance and music video contained elements that were inappropriate for minors. The youngest member Yoonchae is only 17 years old.

Some criticized scenes include the scene of flies rubbing against each other as if reproducing…

…as well as the objectification of the girls as fresh produce.

It was also pointed out that Yoonchae seemed to be shaking a bottle of bubbly in the limo, when she still is not of legal drinking age. Although the bottle could be non-alcoholic, the action it mimics and portrays was called out.

Choreography such as the twerking…

Not to mention, the girls’ outfits seemed to heavily feature exposed bras.

Fans began to point out that this seemed like an ongoing pattern with HYBE. Previously, LE SSERAFIM was heavily sexualized during debut, even though Eunchae was underaged. This included a floor choreography that had the girls thrusting their hips. This was later changed.

Fans pointed out that HYBE seemed to make groups with minor members do this.

One pointed out that HYBE would disguise this by pushing an edgy, girl crush concept.

Fans wondered why the inclusion of minors was necessary if that was the planned route or image for the group.

It seems like fans are tired of HYBE’s antics as time goes by. The company has since released a “clean” version of the song without explicit lyrics.
