i-dle’s Soyeon Reveals The Shocking Reason Behind Her Buzz Cut
i-dle‘s (formerly known as (G)I-DLE) leader Soyeon recently left fans shocked with her new ultra-short blonde hair, ahead of the group’s latest comeback.
Soyeon is known for her bold approach to personal styling, and in recent months, she has been experimenting with short hair quite a bit. However, the blonde short cut added a whole new edge to her image, making her a hot topic in online discourses.
While Soyeon received both praise and hate for her bold new hairstyle, it seems that it wasn’t completely her independent decision. During her appearance in the May 24 episode of JTBC‘s Knowing Bros, the rapper shared the real story behind this hairstyle.
In this episode, host Kang Ho Dong teased Soyeon about her hair, asking if she got gum stuck in it. To everyone’s surprise, Soyeon replied seriously, asking him, “How did you know?”
Soyeon revealed that she actually had to put gum on her hair for a music video, which ended up being the reason behind her drastically short haircut.
We actually put gum in my hair for our music video and I had to cut it off. But how did you know that? The music video hasn’t even been released yet.

Soyeon shared that it was her first time going for such a short haircut that her stylist had to use clippers. “It was even shorter at first,” she added.
Though this bold hairstyle was somewhat imposed on her by the circumstances, Soyeon has carried the hairstyle with unmatched swagger.
