Too Tall For The Pit? Inkigayo’s New Height Rule Sparks Mixed Reactions

Recently, Inkigayo implemented new live broadcast regulations that have left fans buzzing.

Previously, the standing area of the music show required fans to have a max height limit of 165 cm (5’5″). Now, the height limit has been changed to 160 cm (5’3″). This means every person who is over the limit will sit in the seated area instead.
According to Inkigayo’s broadcast regulations, individuals taller than 160cm may not be allowed to participate in standing sections.
You will be seated in the audience instead, so we ask for your understanding in advance.— Inkigayo
Videos have circulated the internet where fans’ heights are checked prior to entering the venue.

Netizens commented on the new height rule, with many believing that the new rule is excessive as Korea’s national average height is taller than the limit.
- “That’s way too short… guess I’ll have to cut off my ankles.”
- “Was it always 165?”
- “Wait, wasn’t it originally 165? Did they change it to 160?”
- “If that’s the case… I’d still make it, so please let me win a ticket.”
- “Wow, 160… that’s rough. Do I need to walk around with a hunched neck now?”
- “Ugh, that’s over the top.”
